SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 11 JUNE 2019

              5. Initiative: Noosa Heads Lions Park — Car Park

The Noosa Heads Lions Park was utilised as a paid carpark at a flat fee of $20 over the
Christmas and Easter Go Noosa trials. The park was managed by the Tewantin-Noosa Lions
Club with assistance from the Noosa Heads Lions Club and Camphor Laurel Society.
              Operational effectiveness:
The Tewantin-Noosa Lions Club have managed paid parking at the Noosa Heads Lions Park
for over 20 years and are very adept at operating the park.
The park is open from 9Yam-6pm and can accommodate approximately 250 vehicles.
In order to reduce damage to the park, the car parking is closed in the event of wet weather.
Over Christmas, the car park was operational for 26 out of 28 days and over Easter, it was
operational for only 6 out of 16 days due to wet weather.
The traffic controllers worked in conjunction with the Lions Club to reduce congestion caused
by circulating vehicles once the car park was full. Traffic control also assisted the interaction
between vehicles and the extra pedestrians from the Lions Park.
              Data obtained:

              Christmas
A total of 6,676 cars utilised the car park generating $133,520 of which 40% went to the
Tewantin Noosa Lions Club for their charitable works and the remaining funds went towards
the Go Noosa trials and the park refurbishment.
The average daily number of cars was 257 a day. Compared to the same dates last Christmas,
there was an additional 1,207 vehicles parked - a 34% increase.
