 SERVICE AREA – INFRASTRUCTURE PLANNING DESIGN DELIVERY (IPDD)

 Summary

Objective: Provision of efficient and effective planning, design and delivery services for infrastructure capital works
projects

Activities: Activities include strategic infrastructure planning and forecasting services, scoping and co-ordinating design
of infrastructure as well as the delivery of infrastructure projects. Activities also include the development and
maintenance of supporting policies, design standards and procedures, maintenance of effective status reporting tools,
and seeking of grant funds to support infrastructure projects.

Infrastructure assets managed include roads, pathways, stormwater, waterways and canals, coastal foreshores, waste
facilities as well as parks. Support is also offered to other owners of asset classes across the organisation including
Council building facilities, sporting facilities and community buildings. Long term strategies and plans are informed by
the need for asset renewal, emerging pressures and issues, as well as community desires and aspirations,

 Service Delivery Model         The service is managed by a mix of internal and external resources dependent
                                upon the scale of the program in any given year, and / or the technical complexity
                                of the project or program requiring skills sets that may not be available internally,
                                as well as the desire to seek best practice approaches from external perspectives.
                                Strategic work is overseen by the Executive, various governance groups and
                                specific working groups.
                                Project delivery is managed through project management processes overseen by
                                Project Control Group and Capital Works Executive
