INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 22 JULY 2014
The key benefits with the installation of the stirrups included:
The new design will halve the length of large timber required to support the table and seating,
as the old design is no longer sustainable due to the increased cost of large timbers.
Existing furniture was refurbished and rehabilitated with no requirement for full replacement of
existing assets which extended the life of the asset from 15 years to 25 years – further
reducing Council’s annual depreciation rates on these assets.
Future installations of similar tables and seating will reduce wastage and provide an asset
that is more sustainable to the environment it is located in.
The stirrups are expected to last 50 years, and therefore will cater for future replacement of
similar benches.
BEFORE (with rotted timber footings) AFTER (with new galvanised steel stirrups)
