INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 22 JULY 2014
Both organisations have a track record of inclusivity and working with the Noosa community.
Their vision for the use of Tait Duke Cottage is that it becomes a valuable community resource
providing a ‘one stop shop’ source of local community support information, and is available as a
meeting venue for local community groups and Noosa residents.
The Rotary Club of Noosa Heads would utilise the Cottage as ‘their base’ for meetings etc
United Synergies would staff the Cottage with volunteers who would be trained to provide
information to the community on local support services and how to access them.
United Synergies has extensive previous experience in operating facilities.
Both organisations have held discussions with other local community organisations including
Noosa Men’s Shed, Community Construction Crew (Sunshine Beach High School and Noosa
High School) and the Red Cross and would implement a community development strategy aimed
at involving community groups in refurbishment and ongoing use.
Their EOI also notes that they would be seeking funding for the restoration of the Cottage and
approach local relevant businesses to support the renovation if they were successful with their
EOI and once a formal lease has been granted.
As part of their EOI, Rotary Noosa and United Synergies also provided a Project Plan and Scope
of Works highlighting items of work required to relocate, restore and adapt the Cottage for
community uses, and proposed responsibility for their implementation.
This work provides a clear vision of how the Cottage will be refurbished and will be very useful in
seeking funding for the project. The scope of works was drawn up pro bono by Heritage
Architect, Laurie Jones.
