ASK Acoustics & Air Quality - Noise Impact Assessment dated 8 January 2021
The Noise Impact Statement submitted in January 2021 needs to be updated to reflect the changes
to the proposal and other considerations which are not included in the current report.
6.2.1 Tennis Noise Assessment
Figure 2.1 in the report showed the location of the receptors used to gauge the level of noise
impacts. R1 is Parkridge, R2 is The Oasis residences and R3 is The Palms residences.
Original proposal
Current proposal
Figure 2.1 has been overlaid with images of the original location of the 3 tennis courts and the
current proposal for the location of 4 tennis courts, which are now closer to the residential
Receptors 2 and 3.
The assessment of noise from the tennis courts was based on only 3 tennis courts in use. It
concluded that “the tennis noise levels at the sensitive receivers are predicted to comply with the
daytime limit (39 dBA) at all two out of three receptors, with a 1 dBA exceedance at R1, which can
be considered marginally complaint”, and recommended to only use two out of the three tennis
courts in the evening.
The current courts are already in regular use by various tennis groups and coaches, and it should be
expected that the presence of hotel guests will increase that usage.
The report also states that a substantial decrease (10 dBA) in noise levels is predicted. As there is no
explanation of how this reduction is going to be achieved, this needs to be clarified.
