4.4.4 Site Distance – Internal Intersections (Hoy Road/Site Access)

Modus has conducted a sight distance assessment for the proposed Hoy Road / Site Access
intersection. Hoy Road is classed as a Local Rural Road, the posted speed limit is 50km/hr. Thus, in
accordance with Austroads, the sight distance requirement is 123m. The proposed Hoy Road / Site
Access intersection can easily be achieved.

As detailed in Table 4-3, the proposed internal intersections achieve Austroads sight distance
requirement. It is noted that vegetation is entering the sight lines on the carriageway and may require
trimming in the future to maintain sight lines.

4.4.5 Site Distance –External Intersections (Lake MacDonald/Hoy Road)

Austroads Guide to Road Design Part 4A: Unsignalised and Signalised Intersections (AGRD P4),
outlines that the extended design domain can be utilised if the following criteria is met:

N Reviewing the geometry of existing intersections

N New intersections are being retrofitted on existing roads in constrained locations

N Improvising the standard of existing intersections in constrained locations

                 N Building temporary intersections.

Modus has conducted a sight distance assessment for the existing Lake MacDonald Road / Hoy Road
intersection to assess existing sight lines. This assessment indicated that the existing sight lines do not
meet the requirements of Austroads which require a minimum of 157m for a posted speed limit of
            80km/hr.

AGRD P4 Proposed Sight Distance Compliant
                     Intersection
                                           Req. Left Right Left Right
                     Site Access 157m 145m +158m X ✓

To provide the required sight lines, clearing of existing vegetation is required in accordance with
            drawing SK01 attached.

As the Lake MacDonald / Hoy Road intersection is an existing intersection and this is a review of the
geometry, the use of the EDD is warranted. It is further noted that the proposed development is
intending nine residential (9) lots which does not provide significant intensification of existing traffic
