8. EDGES 8.1. GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS Samples Install a minimum 2.5m long typical portion of each different edge type showing materials, colour, finish and joints for approval by the Landscape Architect. If acceptable, this sample should be retained as a quality benchmark and shall form part of the finished works. 8.2. EDGE TYPES ED01: Edge Type – Concrete edge Material - In-situ concrete (grey Portland cement), 25 mpa Dimension - 150mm wide x 150mm deep, 5mm rounded chamfer to top edges Sub-base depth/material - 100mm compacted road base Expansion joints - 10mm wide Abelflex, max. 5m spacing. Connection reinforcing rod between expansion joints Surface Finish - Smooth trowel finish Colour - Plain grey Levels - Top surface is to finish flush with the adjacent kerbs or pavement Note: Refer Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia standard works, Detail ER1 ED02: Edge Type– Timber Edge Material - CCA treated pine, rough sawn, treatment Class H5 Material dimensions - 100mm tall x 50mm wide Stakes / support - Hardwood stake support. 50x50x350mm. Galvanise nail stake to timber edge. Stake fixed 20mm below top of timber edge. Stakes every 2m centres & all junctions. Minimum1 stake per 2 Lm. Joins - Connect individual edge timbers with a 1m length of edging set down 20mm below the main edge pieces and fixed to them to achieve a smooth line Colour - None to be applied Levels - Top surface is to finish flush with the adjacent kerbs or pavement URBIS URB-P0003847-000-SP.DOCX PAGE 11
