Approved Plan - Landscape Specification prepared by URBIS - OPW24/0110
9. PAVEMENT
9.1. GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
Drainage
Ensure positive drainage to the kerb and drainage inlet grates to prevent ponding. Grout for direct bond
granite to be water repelled. Ensure there is less than 5mm deep water ponding 15 minutes after rain has
stopped,
Falls are to be achieved in the base slab or topping slab not via variations in the depth of the mortar bed or
sand bed.
Ensure a threshold grade change or ramp is maintained at every known door to allow for minimum
50mm difference between lower external levels and internal floor level (refer to grading plans).
Ensure positive drainage to the kerb and drainage inlet grates to prevent ponding.
Slip resistance
Ensure pavement finishes including sealers, tactiles and directional pavers are compliant with the slip
resistance requirements of the National Construction Code (NCC) and Australian Standards AS/NZS 4586
2013, AS HB 198 2014.
Ramp surfaces must have a slip resistance classification of minimum R11 rating for the oil-wet ramp test as
per Table 5 of AS / NZS 4586-2013.
Provide complying slip resistance test results to the Superintendent.
Location Wet pendulum test Oil-wet inclining platform
test / Wet-Barefoot test
External pavements, Ramps steeper than 1:20 gradient but P4 R11
not steeper than 1:14
Ramps steeper than 1:14 gradient but not steeper than 1:8 P5 R12
Stairs treads and landings P4 R11
Swimming pool surrounds and communal shower rooms P4 B
Swimming Pool ramps and stairs leading into water P5 C
Luminescence contrast testing
Contrast between stair thread paver and stair nosing to be tested and approved as per AS1428. Contrast
between tactile indicators and adjacent pavement to be tested and approved as per AS1428.
Efflorescence
Take all necessary measures to ensure no efflorescence occurs. Select base materials and include
admixtures to prevent the occurrence of efflorescence.
Structural Requirements
Refer to Engineer's Specifications for slab thicknesses, cover to reinforcing, reinforcing, concrete MPa and
base course requirements. Engineers Specifications take precedence over the requirements noted in this
item. Structural slab to be fully cured to the current curing recommendations.
