PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 11 FEBRUARY 2020
The release of the Draft Noosa Biosecurity Plan may raise concerns from some members of the
community regarding the use of chemicals for managing invasive species. Council follows industry
best practice and codes for invasive species management. These standards are identified in the
Draft Noosa Biosecurity Plan and respondents can be supplied with this information on request.
Council continues to explore opportunities for alternative technologies and techniques for
managing biosecurity matters.
There is opportunity to progress the implementation of the Noosa Biosecurity Plan 2020 through
environment groups, bushcare volunteers, natural resource management groups and Land for
Wildlife participants. Participants cover a large cross section of the community and are
geographically distributed across the shire. Council’s engagement with these groups helps build
capacity for the management of biosecurity matters, particularly in relation to early detection and
eradication of new species.
