4.4.2 Myall Street / Elm Street Intersection

The SIDRA analysis of the Myall Street/Elm Street intersection was undertaken using the layout as shown

in Figure 2.3. The results of these analyses are attached in Appendix C, and are summarised in Table 4.5.

Table 4.5: MYALL STREET / ELM STREET INTERSECTION

Evening Peak
2015 Existing 58% 5.0 Elm Street (East) — All movements
2017 Pre Development 60% 5.6 Elm Street (East) — All movements
2017 Post Development 63% 6.2 Myall Street (South) - right turn
2027 Pre Development 95% 9.3 Myall Street (South) - right turn
2027 Post Development 106% 16.1 Myall Street (South) - right turn

Saturday Peak
2015 Existing 50% 3.3 Elm Street (East) — All movements
2017 Pre Development 44% 2.8 Elm Street (East) — All movements
2017 Post Development 47% 3.2 Elm Street (East) — All movements
2027 Pre Development 52% 44 Elm Street (East) — All movements
2027 Post Development 54% 49 Elm Street (East) — All movements

Table 4.5 demonstrates that the Myall Street / Elm Street intersection is expected to experience ‘very good’
or better operations during the 2017 weekday evening pre-development and post development scenarios.
However, background traffic growth is expected to result in ‘poor operations during the 2027 evening
peak. Based on the results, we estimate that the Myall Street / Elm Street intersection will fail under
predevelopment traffic loads by 2023 / 2024.

By comparison, post development flows are expected to have a marginal impact on traffic operations at
this intersection. We estimate that the traffic generated by the subject development ‘brings forward’ the

need to upgrade this intersection by approximately one year.

The results indicate that the Myall Street / Elm Street intersection is expected to experience ‘excellent’
operations during the 2017 and 2027 Saturday peak periods under both pre-development and post
development traffic loads.
