INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 25 FEBRUARY 2014

The status spreadsheet which is used as a working document is attached to allow the Committee
to review and ask questions on any project. Refer Attachment 1.

With respect to the progress to date a number of challenges are to be taken into consideration,
namely:
      Data and operating systems delays have impacted the ability to progress designs;
      A number of positions are currently vacant and some key staff are on long term leave ;
 A number of previously thought to be construction ready projects handed over by Sunshine
       Coast Council require detailed reviews and redesign; and
 Internal design resources are limited and some design work will need to be commissioned
       externally noting this will require a level of supervision to ensure design outcomes meet
       expectations for Noosa.

Whilst the above challenges may have impacted on initial progress there are equally a number of
positive steps being taken to seek innovative approaches to several of Council’s difficult projects,
namely:
 Progress on the design for Munna Point bridge rehabilitation that is more focused on the
       structural issues and in line with techniques that are cost effective whilst suitably extending
       the life of the bridge. The outcome of further investigations are yet to be obtained however
       Council’s consulting engineers are of the opinion that significant savings from previous
       design options can be made; and
 Gympie Terrace stormwater rehabilitation where progress is being made in terms of
       investigating the condition of each line and whether existing stormwater lines may be relined
       without the need for costly and disruptive remove and relay technique.
