Noosa Civic
Construction Environmental Management Plan

4.6 Element 6: Public Amenity and Community
Rationale

The site is unlikely to be visible to nearby residents and passing motorists, given that existing natural vegetation between the site and adjoining
areas will be retained. However, construction works have the potential to adversely impact local public amenity in the vicinity of the site in the
short term, as a result of noise, dust emissions, visual impacts and potential changes to public access and travel arrangements.
The staging of construction works will allow for the continuity of surrounding land uses (i.e. shopping centre, and residential and industrial uses)
where appropriate. However the works may impact on the surrounding land users and the community, and vice versa. These impacts need to
be managed during the construction works in accordance with the identified management measures.
Objective/Target

To ensure persons potentially affected by the works are notified of the nature, duration and timing of the proposed works.
To minimise adverse impacts to public amenity as a result of noise, dust emissions, visual impacts and changes to public access and travel
arrangements, as far as practicable.
To minimise the disturbance of construction works on surrounding land users and vice versa.
Performance Indicators

Compliance with all relevant legislative frameworks such as the EP Act, EPP Noise, Council local laws, and relevant health and safety
requirements.
People potentially affected by the works are informed of the nature, duration and timing of the proposed works.
Any complaints are responded to within one working day.
Noise levels must comply with the noise objectives when measured at the nearest sensitive receptor shown in Table 4-2 below.
