The Soil Loss class for the site is Very Low (150 t/ha/yr). refer Table 2-1 below.
Table 2-1 Soil Loss Class
Soil Loss Class Calculated Soil Loss Erosion Hazard
(t/ha/yr)
1 0 to 150 Very Low
2 151 to 225 Low
3 226 to 350 Low-Moderate
4 351 to 500 Moderate
5 501 to 750 High
6 751 to 1,500 Very High
7 >1,500 Extremely High
The above table is taken directly from Table 3.1 Soil Loss Classes, Chapter 3 of the IECA Best Practice
Erosion and Sediment Control 2008.
2.2 Site Slope
The topography of the site is very gently falling to the north and south west. With the formation of the area
into the proposed commercial development, temporary overland flow paths will be established to direct dirty
water flows to the established sediment basin/s. Grades within the works area will generally be 1.0 to 3.0%.
All slopes are to be maintained to lengths well less than 40m to minimise velocity generation by stormwater
runoff and the potential to pick up and move soil across the site.
