6.0 METHODOLOGY AND ASSUMPTIONS
6.1 Desktop Assessment
A desktop review of available mapping, reports and databases was conducted. These searches included the
following:
Nature Conservation (NC) Wildlife Online Extract (30 March 2016) for 5 km radius (Appendix B)
EPBC Act Protected Matters Search Report (30 February 2016) for 10 km radius (Appendix C)

(Appendix D)
Department of Environment and Heritage Protection Regional Ecosystem Biodiversity Status
(Appendix E)
Department of Environment and Heritage Wetland Mapping (Appendix F)
Department of Natural Resources Protected Plants Survey Map (Appendix G)
Noosa Shire Planning Scheme The Noosa Plan
The database searches and review were undertaken to:
Identify vegetation associations and habitats mapped as occurring within the Site and immediate
surrounding area
Collate significant species records
Identify State Significant Areas/Species within the Site and immediate surrounding area
It should be noted that the database searches only identify habitat and species that may occur within the site
and immediate surrounding area.
6.2 Site Walkover
A site walkover, preliminary vegetation survey and protected plant survey was undertaken by a suitably
qualified ecologist from Core on 13 and 14 March 2016 and 31 May and 1 June 2016 in conjunction with a
Protected Plant Survey. The Protected Plant Survey was undertaken in accordance with Protected Plants
Survey Guidelines (Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM 2014). Results of the
Protected Plant Survey are incorporated into this report and presented within Core’s Protected Plants Survey
report. The site walkover generally consisted of:
A preliminary assessment of regional ecosystem mapping, generally in accordance with Nelder et al.
(2012)
A preliminary assessment of the Site for vegetation and habitat values
An assessment of Koala habitat
The preliminary identification of potential habitats of significant species identified within the desktop
assessment and an assessment of the potential for those species to occur on or near the Site
Undertaking general vegetation mapping of the Site
Results of the site walkover and habitat assessment are presented in Section 8.0.
