6.3 Koala Habitat Assessment
A koala habitat assessment of the Site was undertaken of all individual trees considered to be koala habitat
trees. The site was mapped into grids with tree species identified that are considered koala habitat trees i.e.
Corymbia, Melaleuca, Lophostemon or Eucalyptus genera and preferred shelter species such as Angophora
These were measured (circumference), recorded and mapped using a GPS to identify koala habitat trees
occurring on the site. This survey was undertaken to identify areas of the Site that contain koala habitat
trees under the South East Queensland Koala Conservation State Planning Regulatory Provision.

7.1 Database Searches
7.1.1 Wildlife Online
Results of the Wildlife Online Database search are presented in Appendix B. The search was undertaken for
a 5 km radius from the centre of the site. Results of the search included 1621 different species recorded
within a 5 km radius of the site. Of these the following species were identified as protected under the NC
Act;

ƒ 3 Vulnerable and 1 Endangered Amphibian

ƒ 6 Endangered, 10 Vulnerable and 2 Critically Endangered Birds

ƒ 1 Endangered crustacean

ƒ 3 Endangered and 6 Vulnerable Mammals

ƒ 2 Vulnerable and 1 Endangered fish

ƒ 1 Near Threatened and 1 Endangered Reptile

ƒ 11 Vulnerable, 5 Endangered and 2 Near Threatened plant species

Additionally, 20 birds considered SL i.e. protected under subordinate legislation to the NC Act including
Shorebirds and Wetlands were listed.
The above species are presented in Table B1 (Appendix B) with an assessment for the potential for them to
occur within the site based on habitat values actually occurring on the Site and those habitat values
considered requirements of the species.

7.1.2 EPBC Act Protected Matters Search Tool
An EPBC Protected Matters Search (Appendix C) was undertaken for a radius of 5 km surrounding the Site
to identify significant species potentially occurring within the Site and surrounding area. The search
identified:

ƒ 2 Threatened Ecological community, namely:

ƒ Lowland Rainforest of Subtropical Australia

ƒ Subtropical and Temperate Coastal Saltmarsh

ƒ 68 Listed threatened species, and

ƒ 68 Migratory species
These species are tabulated in Table B1 (Appendix B) and outlines the potential likelihood of these species
occurring within the Site.
