Planning_Economic Impact Assessment
Section 6: Economic impact
It is noted that the Noosa Junction precinct is an existing commercial and
employment hub and that the proposed office uses are consistent with this role
and function. The proposed office space will support local employment
opportunities as well as result in additional local demand for local retail and
service operators.
6.4 Strategic integration (RFI)
This section responds to specific requests from Council in their information
request.
Describe how the proposed non-residential components of the proposed
development would integrate with and support the existing Noosa
Junction business centre in a functional sense.
While the proposed non-residential uses will not alter the role or function of the
existing Noosa Junction precinct, it will enhance the scale and mix of retail and
commercial uses locally. This enhanced mix of uses will increase choice,
competition and convenience for local residents which will likely result in
increased retention of local demand. It will also support additional local
employment within the existing employment hub.
The integration of uses will be further enhanced by specific uses such as the
proposed tavern. The tavern will replace the existing bowls club and provide a
location for community interaction and socialisation. Maintaining this function
within the precinct will be important for other retail and commercial uses within
the precinct that benefit from the increased visitation generated by the existing
bowls club.
