PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 7 DECEMBER 2021
While narrow and degraded the unclassified northeast corner has a range of in situ and
environmental values and State legislative constraints
A series of community requests for better land management and improved public access to
the foreshore in the unclassified northeast corner
Problems with yard extensions and vegetation damage around the entire foreshore
A foreshore management plan would allow the consideration of public access requests and
opportunities across the whole of Lake Doonella foreshore
The development of a foreshore management plan would allow for the extensive needed
investigation and internal and external consultation.
The plan is developed in consultation with Council and government stakeholders and the
community, in a similar manner to the process that has been initiated for the Eastern Beaches
Foreshores.

Finance
The development of the Lake Doonella Foreshore Management Plan is currently unfunded.
However, a temporary officer position for the development of the Eastern Beaches Foreshore
Management Plan has been funded until June 2022. The concurrent development of the
Eastern Beaches and Lake Doonella Foreshore Management Plans by this officer would
likely delay completion of the Eastern Beaches Foreshore Management Plan and require
budget for the FY22/23 to complete both exercises
Another option is to retain the current timeline for the development of the Eastern Beaches
Foreshore Management Plan and submit a new initiative and budget for subsequent
development of the Lake Doonella Foreshore Management Plan in the FY2022/23.
