Information response
Attached to the e-mail Response to Info Request, Landscape plans & amended Proposal Plans (1) - 1 of 4 - MCU16/0081.
1 Undertake an assessment of the bushfire hazards within and around the
subject site using the Fireline Intensity Model as provided by the State
Planning Policy of April 2016. The SPP mapping can be access from the
following URL - http://www.dilgp.qld.gov.au/planning/state-planning-
instruments/spp-interactive-mapping-system.html
Using the state Fireline Intensity Calculator the classification attributed to the bushfire hazard
is high. A copy of the calculator results are included in figures 1 and 2. A calculation has
been made using maximum landscape slope as 0 degrees for the vegetation to the east and
3 degrees for the vegetation to the north. A fire weather severity rating of 40 has been
adopted as per AS3959:2009 Construction of Buildings in Bushfire prone Areas for
Queensland. It should be noted that changing the FFDI to 50 from 40 does not change the
Potential Bushfire Intensity hazard from High to Very High, i.e. it remains in the 20,000 –
40,000kW/m intensity class.
The fireline intensity classification ratings are included in table 1 and are based on A new
methodology for State-wide mapping of bushfire prone areas in Queensland.
Table 1: Potential Bushfire Intensity Classes and corresponding Potential Fireline intensity ranges from
CSIRO
Potential Bushfire Intensity Class Potential Fireline intensity
1. Very high (potential intensity) 40,000+kW/m
2. High (potential intensity) 20,000 - 40,000+kW/m
3. medium (potential intensity) 4,000 – 20,000kW/m
