ORDINARY MEETING REPORT 18 OCTOBER 2018
Risks & Opportunities
Traffic congestion during peak holiday periods is the cause of significant community concern. This concern has been growing over the past decade and
is one of the reasons that Council has developed its Transport Strategy. Having developed this strategy staff have now prepared a range of actions for
Council to consider.
Before considering the risks associated with each individual action as described below it is important to highlight that there is a significant risk if Council
either takes no action or moves to expensive infrastructure solutions without any evidence of their effectiveness. These trials are aimed at testing a
whole of precinct management approach to the problem of congestion rather than an infrastructure solution. If successful this managed approach could
be significantly cheaper and more effective than building additional road infrastructure.
