4. TRADEMARKS, COPYRIGHTS AND PRIVACY
The 13 Local Governments acknowledge that the National Arrangement and the Terms of Reference
outline formal agreements relating to the protection of LfW trademarks, copyrights and the privacy
of LfWSEQ members’ data.

4.1 Trademarks and Copyrights
The name ‘Land for Wildlife’ is a registered trademark item owned by the State of Victoria. The Land
for Wildlife logo (including the image of the animal climbing the letter W) is a copyright protected
image owned by the State of Victoria, managed through the Victorian Department of Environment,
Land, Water and Planning. As signatories to the National Arrangement, the 13 Local Governments
are permitted to use LfW trademarked and copyrighted items in delivery and promotion of the LfW
program in accordance with the specifications of the National Arrangement. The LfW logo must be
used in a way that is complimentary to the LfW program and must reflect the high regard in which
the LfW program is held.

The National Arrangement specifies the permitted use and design details of the LfW logo and LfW
sign including the following National LfW Sign Design Standards:

   • The shape is a diamond and provision for mounting the sign as a diamond is in the design.
   • The background PMS is PMS 338 (Pantone colour system), or as close as possible.
   • The text ‘Land for Wildlife’ is in the font (Plantin), size (point) and position shown below (and
scaled to full size), or as close as possible.
   • The colour is black.
   • The sign is bordered by a black line.
   • Signs may have a feature which identifies the jurisdiction of their origin (usually this will be a
     Local Government logo).
   • Signs can be uniquely numbered. Most signs in SEQ have been consecutively numbered. Sign
numbering records are held with the Regional Coordinator and in the Shared Regional Folder
(a folder created in MS OneDrive in 2021, managed by the Regional Coordinator, and
populated with active and archived LfWSEQ key program files, shared with the 13 councils).
   • Examples of copyrighted protected images:

4.2 Commercial Use of Land for Wildlife Logo
From time to time, a Local Government or the Regional Coordinator receives requests from LfW
members to use the LfW logo for commercial or non-commercial purposes to assist in the promotion
of goods and services related to their LfW property.

The LfWSEQ Steering Committee has agreed that all requests by LfW members or other parties to
use the LfW logo for commercial or non-commercial purposes will be directed to the State of
