PLANNING & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 8 DECEMBER 2015
Figure 4: Quarry Reserve parcels proposed by resolution 1 November 2007
At recent discussions with QPWS, officers indicated that they are no longer supportive of the
area within Part B (Fig 4) being under joint management as a Conservation Park and
suggested that Council apply to DNRM to change the reserve purpose to “Environmental
Purposes” reflecting how the site is currently being managed.
Part C is still required for operational purposes including storage of materials and plant and
access to the small dam to provide water for road grading. It should be noted that the
suggested boundary in the diagram at Fig 4 may need to be regularised to provide a better
lot shape and to improve management of the different uses (e.g. the western boundary is
unnecessary and boundary could be more “squared off” to provide a more regular shaped
lot).
The purpose of this report is to obtain Council approval to the alternative proposal for Part B
tenure to become Reserve for Environmental Purposes and for regularisation of the
proposed property boundary for Part C for improve management of both parcels.
4. Freehold Lot 900 (28 ha) and Lot 901 (5 ha) SP186169, Beach Road
The above lots are shown at Fig. 5 below.
Relevant background information in relation to Lot 900 and 901 SP186169 includes:
The lots were dedicated to Council for conservation purposes as a condition of the
Beach Road houses (Petrac) development approval as the lots were identified as
having the highest ecological value.
The plan of survey was signed in September 2007 but the transfer of ownership did
not occur until 5th March 2009, after amalgamation.
The lots are zoned “Open Space Conservation” under the Noosa Plan.
