GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 24 OCTOBER 2022 6 MCU16/0044.02 APPLICATION FOR MINOR CHANGE TO DEVELOPMENT APPROVAL DIGITAL HUB AT 255 DAVID LOW WAY, PEREGIAN BEACH DECIDED UNDER DELEGATION Author Manager Development Assessment, Kerri Coyle Environment & Sustainable Development Department Index ECM/ Application/ MCU16/0044.02 Attachments Nil EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This report provides an update to Council on an application lodged by Council for a minor change to the development approval for the Digital Hub. The application sought approval for a further extension of the community house by 72m2 to facilitate an additional meeting area and storage space. The application was approved under delegation by officers pursuant to Council’s delegations for the Planning Act 2016 notwithstanding it has been officers’ practice to report Council made applications to a council meeting for consideration. Assessment of the application concluded that the changes were a minor change to the development approval pursuant to the Planning Act 2016, complied fully with the Noosa Plan 2020 requirements and would complement the existing Community House and Digital Hub. RECOMMENDATION That Council note the report by the Manager Development Assessment to the General Committee Meeting dated 24 October 2022 regarding Application No MCU16/0044.02 for a minor change to the development approval for Commercial Business Type 1 Office, Entertainment & Dining Business Type 1 Food & Beverages, Wellbeing Type 2 - Social and Open Space Type 1 Sport & Recreation and Boundary Realignment situated at 253-255 David Low Way, Peregian Beach REPORT BACKGROUND This report provides advice to councillors that an application lodged by Council for a minor change to the development approval for the Digital Hub was decided by officers in accordance with Council’s delegations for the Planning Act 2016. While Council’s delegations for the Planning Act 2016 provide for such applications lodged by Council to be decided under delegation by officers, officers have had the practice of reporting these applications to a council meeting. Notwithstanding this practice Council’s Infrastructure Services Director advised in this instance that there were some contractual obligations that required the application to be decided before the Council Ordinary meeting in October 2022. APPROVAL DETAILS The change to the development approval was sought to further renovate and expand the Peregian Beach Community House. The approved minor changes include: • An additional meeting facility and a new battery storage space to display the new technologies to the Hub users and the general public. • Creation of a weatherproof roof linking the existing Digital Hub and the renovated community house.
