INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING REPORT 10 NOVEMBER 2015
Employee benefits finished the quarter $11,563 underspent however a majority of the savings
were offset in related areas, including the aforementioned Jump Bunch shortfall of $4,000, a
$6,258 overspend in contract cleaning services due to shifting cleaning responsibilities to
contractors following the departure of an employee and a $1,513 overspend in fitness instruction
contract services while employee instructors were on leave.
Other expenditure variances were seen in the following areas:
Contract Services – Electrical: $2,260 overspent due to lighting works associated with the
large Noosa Long Weekend Festival (NLWF) events. This will fall back in line with budget
as the year progresses.
Equipment Hire: $2,125 over budget due to unforeseen equipment requirements for the
NLWF events.
Levy & Licence Fees: $3,456 over budget projections. This is due to a recent change in the
billing cycle for APRA fees which resulted in NLC incurring the full 2014/15 expenses in
September 2015, while at the same time paying the first quarter’s expense for 2015/16.
2. CUSTOMERS
NLC has recorded higher attendance numbers in this quarter compared to the same period in
2014. A total of 22,838 visits occurred, compared to 18,269 in 2014.

The increase in attendances is predominantly due to high numbers at major events in this period,
which included:
NLWF’s opening performance by Opera Australia presenting “The Magic Flute”. Over 750
people attended this event, with NLC proud to be the first ever Sunshine Coast venue to
host an Opera Australia performance.
NLWF Orchestra’s anniversary performance. Over 500 people attended this combined
performance by Noosa Orchestra, Noosa Chorale and the Brisbane Symphony Orchestra.
Hillsong Church group while The J was unavailable due to NLWF events.
