Hall Annexe Total
The demountable building was originally a leased building placed on the BCC site by the
University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) as their first campus in the Noosa Shire until their move
to The J in 2006.
When USC relocated to The J, the demountable building was purchased from the leasing
company by Council. The building was then used for United Synergies - Noosa Flexible Learning
and Council’s School Age Care service.
In a short time both these activities out-grew the demountable building. To cater for this growth,
the annexe was extended and the School Age Care service moved to the annexe. This allowed
United Synergies - Noosa Flexible Learning to lease the whole demountable building. Three
years ago the Noosa Flexible Learning School were successful in receiving BER funding and
added extra verandas and undertook internal renovations to the demountable.
In 2010, the School Age Care service was divested to C&K Association and they leased the
extension of the annexe. C&K Association vacated the annexe in December 2011.
The Noosa Flexible Learning School have recently vacated the demountable building and moved
to their new purpose built school in Girraween Court.
Generally the demountable building has been used for education or children services since being
located at the BCC.
2. Proposal
The BCC is one of Council’s main community facilities however it is currently at a cross road with
regard to its future overall direction, as a result of the changes noted above.
As part of the ongoing operational review of all venues within the Community Facilities Branch an
audit of occupancy levels, attendances and types of users at each venue has been undertaken.
This review highlighted that the BCC facilities were underutilised and that some of the users
would be more suited to other venues.
