Segment 5: Peregian Beach North

While Option A (cycle street → village scale cycle track) for Segment 5 received the highest score in the MCA, this is not
considered the preferred option. In light of the broader context and feedback from the PWG, Option C (shared path) is
the preferred off-road option for Segment 5 as it provides excellent consistency in the type of the facility treatment

proposed, as it benefits pedestrians by addressing existing gaps in the footpath network, and as it supports current NSC
planning for a portion of the segment.
Segment 6: Peregian Beach South
Option A (cycle street) is the preferred off-road design treatment for Segment 6 as it received the highest score in the
MCA, as it is cost effective, as it is appropriate to the local context and as it achieves LTS 1. Although the proposed

treatment will be provided on the existing road surface, it will form part of the off-road coastal corridor. This option does
not provide dedicated space for cyclists along Plover Street, Piper Street, Shearwater Street and Lorikeet Drive which may
reduce the perception of safety for some users. Despite this, the low speed (30km/h), the design of the cycle street and
the provision of pedestrian footpaths on the eastern side of these streets will ensure this is a safe facility for all ages and
abilities. As a possible ultimate/long term option, there is potential to implement an off-road bushland path located
between residential properties and the beach (refer to Figure 25). This option will be subject to cost, feasibility,
environmental assessments and community feedback.
