RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Senior Economic Development Officer to the Planning &
Organisation Committee Meeting dated 2 February 2016 and note the Noosa Shire Local
Economic Plan – Implementation Plan.


REPORT

1.                       Background

Council adopted the Noosa Shire Local Economic Plan (LEP) at its Ordinary Meeting of 17
December 2015, following a process of:

                       development in collaboration with the community and key stakeholders including a
                         Local Economic Plan Focus Group;
                       an economic profile; and
                       a series of Councillor workshops.

At its meeting on 18 December 2016, the Council requested the Chief Executive Officer to
develop an Implementation Plan to support the LEP.

The LEP continues the focus on industry sectors of high economic value and low
environmental impact and builds on the success of previous plans and economic strategies
including the Noosa Community Economic Sector Plan 2002-2015; the Economic Strategies
and Innovation Implementation Strategy 2004-2007; and the Sunshine Coast Regional
Economic Plan 2013-2033 during the period of amalgamation.
