4.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
4.1 EFFLUENT DISPOSAL
It is recommended that the application of effluent on-site via surface irrigation be adopted.
Contained in Figure 3 of this report is the proposed location of the effluent application areas
and the irrigation system design detail.

Assuming a hydraulic loading of 1,410 litres per day and a DIR of 15mm/week based on
Table 4.2 A4 of AS1547:2000 (Category 6 soils), a minimum application area of 658m? is
required.

                                                   4.2A4 of AS 1547

Based on the Table above and presence of Category 4-5 soils to 700mm, an effluent irrigation
area of 625m’ is required for the site. A typical design detail of the irrigation system is shown
in Figure 4.

It is noted that the site has sufficient space available for a 100% reserve area and is shown in
Figure 4.

The application area shall be installed in accordance with the following:
  1) All plumbing and drainage work is to be carried out by licensed persons and strictly in
      accordance with the AS/NZ 3500:2003, AS/NZS 1547:2000 and Plumbing and Drainage
      Act 2002;
  2) Lilac stripe poly pipe is to be buried a minimum of 150mm below ground level from the
      treatment plant to the irrigation area;
  3) Sprinklers are to be used to irrigate the treated effluent within the designated area after
      150mm of mulch or turf has been applied;
