5.0 CONCLUSION
This report presents recommendations on the sizing of an effluent disposal system (surface
irrigation) to cater for the combined use of the existing development and the population
intensities associated with this.
The assessments and recommendations are based on our site assessment and the geotechnical
investigation carried out.
On the basis of the geotechnical investigations and assessment of the flow rates, the subject
allotment is considered suitable for on-site sewage operations within the site. An effluent
irrigation area of approximately 500m? will be required to adequately dispose the treated
wastewater generated from the development intensity.
Provided the on-site sewerage facility is installed in accordance with the recommendations
provided and relevant codes and standards aforementioned in this report, there will be
minimal risk of environmental impact to the site and surrounding areas. The on-site STP and
effluent disposal area will need to be managed intensively to minimise potential human health
risks and thereby protect and enhance the quality of human health and the environment in the
long term. The system must be operated and maintained in compliance with the
manufacturer’s guidelines (information should be sought from the treatment system
manufacturer), to ensure this risk is appropriately managed.
All wastewater should be treated to a minimum secondary or advanced secondary level to
reduce any potential environmental impacts.
Details of the wastewater treatment plant and land application system are summarised below;
