contacting other branches) in the cherry-picker and physically capture the animal by placing the
entire drey in a catch bag (or the possum if it emerges from the drey).
 In instances where an animal located in an arboreal hollow does not relocate on its’ own accord,
the hollow entrance is to be plugged and the arborist or fauna spotter/catcher is to remove the
entire hollow limb below the hollow (i.e., where the branch is solid). In circumstances where a
hollow continues into the main stem of the tree, a small window will be carefully cut into the
hollow, allowing the fauna spotter/catcher to plug the hollow above and below the window, then
the hollow limb is to be removed and lowered to the ground in sections.
 When the animal has been safely secured within the hollow, the entire limb can be placed in the
cherry-picker bucket or lowered to the ground using ropes (depending on the size of the limb).
 Relocated animals are to be placed within a catch bag or retained within the plugged hollow, which
is to be placed in a cool, quiet location until translocation to the recipient habitat site can occur.
           5.4 MONITORING AND REPORTING
An activity report is to be completed by the fauna spotter/catcher and submitted to Council at the
duration of clearing activities. The activity report is to include the following:
 The number and species of any animals observed during clearing
 The actions taken to deal with observed animals
 The number of any animals that were required to be relocated
 The release site for any relocated animals
 The number of animals injured during clearing
                  The treatment provided
 The outcome of any treatment
 The location of the treatment
