Council advised SLR on 29 July 2022 that the “Noosa Traffic Study to 2036 – (Holland Traffic
Consulting 2016)” informs Council’s network planning for future road and intersection
upgrades. This study was prepared by Holland Traffic Consulting (HTC) in 2016 (referred as
‘HTC 2016 study’ herein), using SIDRA to analyse critical intersections to determine upgrade
works required for the road network in Noosa Shire up to the 2036 design scenario. The
specific upgraded intersection concepts contained within the HTC 2016 study have been
reviewed by SLR to understand the planned intersection improvements for the broader road
network.
In addition to intersection upgrades, the HTC 2016 study also recommended Council to
facilitate diversion of traffic on Eumundi Noosa Road to an alternative Emu Mountain Road /
Walter Hay Drive route. This diversion is encouraged so that existing and future heavy traffic
demands along Eumundi Noosa Road between Beckmans Road and Goodchap Street can
be alleviated.
Table 2 summarises the details of the works identified as part of this review. Indicative
locations of the works are illustrated on Figure 3.
