2.5        Active Transport
2.5.1      Existing Pedestrian and Bicycle Network
The area surrounding the site has a well-established pedestrian and bicycle network. The
pedestrian and bicycle network includes existing footpaths and road crossings within the
Noosa Civic shopping centre and alongside all roads. As such, the project site is considered
to be well serviced by walkways and cycleways. Figure 5 shows the cycle routes in the vicinity
of the project site.
Further to the already constructed facilities, an active transport linkage for pedestrians and
cyclists to the immediate west of the subject site extending north/south will be delivered to
provide a key connection through the Noosa Business Centre and to external pedestrian and
bicycle pathways. It is noted that this key connection is covered by an easement for the
purpose of a pedestrian pathway.
