West Ridge Quarry
Site Based Management Plan
1.3 Project Overview
The development seeks to realise the full potential of the existing known extractive resource on-site in order to assist with
rehabilitation works associated with Mining Lease (ML) numbers 3672, 3673, 3705, 3718, 3729 and 50078 located at the
CSR Neales and White Pit Quarries on Lake MacDonald Drive, Cooroy.
The proposed hours of operation are 6am to 6pm Monday-to-Friday and 7am to 3pm on Saturdays. No operations are
proposed to occur on Sundays, Anzac Day, Christmas Day or Good Friday.
The operation will use standard quarrying methodologies that may involve clearing, topsoil and overburden stripping,
mechanical excavation, processing and stockpiling with the final products utilised for rehabilitation works off-site at nearby
CSR mining leases (refer Diagram 1 – Conceptual On-site Extractive Operations).

Diagram 1 – Conceptual On-site Extraction Operations
Extractive operations will comprise the following elements:
Clearing of vegetation and stripping of topsoil and overburden material using mechanical means (i.e. bulldozer or
excavator) and stockpiling for incorporation into rehabilitation works where required, or use in constructing stormwater
control structures (e.g. perimeter banks).
Stripping of clay material progressively using mechanical equipment (i.e. hydraulic excavator, loader or bulldozer with
ripper attachment, or similar earthmoving equipment) and stockpiling on-site for the rehabilitation works (at Neales
Quarry and White Pit Quarry), where required.
Screening the raw material using a mobile screening processing plant.
Stockpiling the final products within the bounds of the extraction footprint or designated hardstand area adjacent to
the processing plant until required to be loaded into haulage vehicles for transportation off-site for the rehabilitation
works (at Neales Quarry and White Pit Quarry).
On-site extractive industry operations will be supported by a range of ancillary buildings and structures which include, but
are not necessarily limited to:
Demountable Site office and amenities block
Car park (for employees and contractors)
