located along both sides of Lake Macdonald Drive, however,
these uses are screened by large trees and mature vegetation
along the road.
In addition, the assessment provides that the haulage of materials
along Lake Macdonald Drive is anticipated to not impact existing
public transport, cyclist or pedestrian activity.
The increase in traffic along Lake Macdonald Drive relating to
transport of materials from the West Ridge Mining Lease to the
other mining leases will be temporary in nature (works to take 2
years to complete), and will occur only over a short distance (i.e.
1.2 km).
It is intended for a Drivers Code of Conduct to be implemented
which will also include information to the treatment and
awareness of on road cyclists when entering, exiting or travelling
along the haulage route.
The proposed works on-site are approximately 800 m from Lake
Macdonald Drive and the view of the quarry from this road is
obscured by the riparian vegetation associated with Six Mile
Creek which will remain unaffected. As such, the development
will not result in visual impacts from the road.
Upon completion of the proposed works on the Site, it is
anticipated that the Site will be rehabilitated to return the Site to a
stable non-polluting state.
Rehabilitation when carried out, will be of a form and extent
reflecting appropriate post mining/extraction landform/land use
requirements.
Rehabilitation works will be planned, designed and executed with
appropriate controls to prevent nuisance and to safeguard the
environment.
A Landcare and Rehabilitation Plan has been incorporated in
ATTACHMENT 8 – SITE BASED MANAGEMENT PLAN to
ensure the proposed post-extraction land use is returned to a
stable, non-polluting and self-sustaining state suitable for rural
use.
