Planning Assessment Report Page 9 300 Kennedys Road, Lake Macdonald QLD 4563 – Extractive Industry Rehabilitation, when carried out, will be of a form and extent reflecting appropriate post mining/extraction landform/land use requirements. Rehabilitation activities will be planned, programmed and implemented in conjunction with mine extraction activities whenever practicable. Particular attention will be paid to salvaging and subsequently managing topsoil resources on extractive areas. Rehabilitation works will be planned, designed and executed with appropriate controls to prevent nuisance and to safeguard the environment. A Landcare and Rehabilitation Plan has been incorporated in ATTACHMENT 8 – SITE BASED MANAGEMENT PLAN to ensure the proposed post-extraction land use is returned to a stable, non-polluting and self-sustaining state suitable for rural use. Rehabilitation works will be required prior to the surrender of the mining lease over the Site. The extent and nature of the rehabilitation works will be determined at that time with consideration to the likely post mining land uses for the land. Minimum works would include establishment of stable land with grass cover for grazing purposes. As a minimum, the Site would be rehabilitated in the following manner to ensure the establishment of stable land with grass cover for grazing purposes, including: minor trim earthworks to void the pit perimeter and floor; spreading of soil from perimeter stockpiles; and ripping, seeding and fertilising with grass seed. Rehabilitation activities form part of the standard operations under the current mining lease (ML No. 3742) for the Site. Rehabilitation strategies and plans are documented and translated into operational procedures and/or work instructions for effective implementation. Pursuant to the Plan of Operations (ATTACHMENT 1), monitoring and records of rehabilitation outcomes are maintained. 2.3.5 Workforce The permanent full-time Site workforce will be approximately three (3) persons. All staff working on-site will be trained in accordance with the Site Based Management Plan prepared for the Site (refer ATTACHMENT 8 – SITE BASED MANAGEMENT PLAN). 2.3.6 Hours of Operation The proposed hours of operation are 6:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday and 7:00am to 3:00pm Saturday. No operations will be conducted on Sundays, Anzac Day, Christmas Day, Easter Monday or Good Friday. It is anticipated that surrounding land uses will not be impacted upon during these hours by the proposed development (refer FIGURE 2 – SITE AND SURROUNDS). Operations will be carried out in accordance with the Site Based Management Plan (refer ATTACHMENT 8 – SITE BASED MANAGEMENT PLAN) prepared for the Site and conditions of development approval for the conduct of Environmentally Relevant Activities. 2.3.7 Public Utilities and Services The proposed development will utilise the existing local services (i.e. electricity, telecommunications, water, sewerage) provided on the Site. It is anticipated that the development will not require any further public utilities and services for the operations of the development. Existing infrastructure on-site will be used where necessary.
