3.0 Completed development details
Earthworks, clearing and landscaping was completed between September 2021 and December
2021. Refer below for a series of photos showing the development overtime.
The complete works involved the following;
1. Initial site assessments and planning and procurement of earthmoving company.
2. Site establishment was located to minimise both short and long-term soil and vegetation
disturbance, while giving appropriate consideration to the intended purpose of the pathway and
the ability to rehabilitate
3. Commencement of clearing works (September 2021) prior to the wet season as follows
- Rescued large patches of native epiphytes and native grasses Lomandra species and put
aside for further re-instatement.
- Identified the native Brown Kurrajong tree for retaining.
- Fauna habitat features identified and rescued where possible by owner and clearing
contractor. Low risk due to the habitat values (refer attached Ecological Assessment
Report)
- Sequential clearing and grubbing was utilised to assist fauna in relocating to nearby habitat
on their own accord.
- Cleared vegetation was placed in windrows and mulched on site. Mulched was placed in
windrows for sediment control.
4. Dam was pumped out with no large aquatic fauna (Fish or eels) needing relocation.
5. The dam and drainage inlet and outlet alignment was excavated to remove sediment loads.
This material was stockpiled ready for amelioration and use in the surrounding garden beds.
6. The drainage alignment outlet and inlet were surface protected with geofabric and d50 =
400mm rock matching existing uphill drainage easement. An access cross over with 500mm
diameter pipe culvert was also established.
7. A small amount of cut and fill was completed (<30m3) to establish a safe pathway along the
southern boundary of the dam.
8. The dam batters were protected with mulch and erosion control blanket and planted out with
mostly Lomandra species.
9. Topsoil was imported and mixed with the dam and drainage line spoil and used to form garden
and turf areas.
10. Garden beds were formed and placed on existing surface levels and covered in site mulch.
11. A combination of 90% local native and 10% non-weed exotic/non local species have and will
be planted.
12. All other disturbed surfaced were covered in topsoil and hydromulched.
This change in the landscape within this property was a desire of a new landowner to create a
garden that reflects their interest while protecting the environmental values of land and surrounds.
