SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 11 APRIL 2017
The applicant’s request to Council states:
The area of confusion relates to [the] OLGR On Premises Licence which in reading appears to
provide approval for use of outdoor terrace area of 16m x 6.3m. This has been interpreted by the
owner and used in this manner to establish and grow the wedding business of the restaurant.
It has only been established recently that this interpretation was incorrect and the area that was
being referred to was actually an external area of the restaurant that was enclosed post application
and approval by Council in 2009.
This now places the owner, staff and guests who have booked for functions this year in a position
where the restaurant does not have an approval from Council and hence OLGR to be able to
conduct events where pre and post event drinks and canapés can be served.
….
Noosa Waterfront Restaurant is seeking a Commercial Low Use Permit or the issuing of Temporary
Event Permits for an area of park directly adjacent to the restaurant measuring 16.2m x 6.3m. The
permit / permits are for the remainder of 2017 to allow the 43 functions they have already booked
to be able to occur with reasonable conditions which relate to hours of operation, noise monitoring
(compliance with OLGR conditions), area to be used and temporary infrastructure.
Granting of a permit will allow for the Waterfront Restaurant to apply for an OLGR extension permit
to use the area.
Third party letters of support provided by the applicant are included as Attachment 3.
Plans showing the location of the restaurant and surrounding features are shown below.
