promote these community based Council Meetings.

REPORT
Since 2014, Council has generally held two Ordinary Meetings each year at different community
locations. Meetings have been held in Pomona and Peregian Beach (2014), Cooran and Noosa
Junction (2015) and Cooroy (2016). These community based Council meetings provide an
opportunity for local communities to meet with the Mayor and Councillors and discuss local issues.

To continue this practice in 2017, the following arrangements are proposed:
1. Ordinary Meeting, 18 May 2017 to be held at the Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club, Boreen Point
     at 6pm; and
2. Ordinary Meeting, 16 November 2017 to be held at the Sunshine Beach State School,
                         Sunshine Beach at 6pm.

Both meetings will be preceded by an informal “meet and greet” at 5pm where local residents can
discuss issues with Council’s representatives. The meetings will also be followed by another
informal discussion opportunity.

Section 257 (3) of the Local Government Regulation 2012 provides that:
“All meetings of a local government are to be held –
(a) at one of the local government’s public offices; or
(b) for a particular meeting – at another place fixed by the local government, by resolution, for
      the meeting.

The report recommendation meets the requirements of this section of the Regulation.
