PLANNING & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 25 MARCH 2014
The extent of earthworks and urban densities will require extensive clearing of existing vegetation
within the residential and commercial footprints and for road construction. The application
material does not provide total tree clearing numbers but does estimate approximately 11,200
non-juvenile koala food trees will be cleared. The applicant indicates this represents only 3% of
the total koala food trees present on the full site and proposes substantial offset plantings. Offset
plantings estimated at up to 40,826 trees are proposed in areas scattered throughout the site, as
indicated in Figure 7 below and included at A3 size as Attachment 4.

The applicant suggests that Noosa on Weyba will provide additional residential land supply
adjoining a Major Activity Centre (Noosa Business Centre) and can be considered as infill
development similar to that to the North (via Lake Entrance Boulevard) and South (Weyba
Estate). It submits the development thereby forms a logical expansion of the urban area within
the Noosa/North Maroochy locality.
