2. Safety and Security Measures
Ensuring the safety and security of patrons, staff, and the surrounding community is a primary
operational focus of the hotel. Comprehensive security measures will be implemented, aligning
with the requirements outlined in the RAMP and regulatory standards to create a safe and
controlled environment.
a) Security Personnel Deployment and Management
• Staffing Ratios and Training:
o The hotel will employ security personnel in accordance with the ratios set out in
the RAMP: a minimum of 1 security officer per 100 patrons from 11:00 pm until
one hour after closing. Additional personnel will be added based on anticipated
peak periods, such as weekends, public holidays, and special events.
o All security staff will receive extensive training in:
Conflict resolution techniques, including de-escalation strategies and
communication skills to manage disruptive behaviour calmly and
effectively.
Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) requirements to identify
intoxicated patrons and enforce compliance with service limitations.
Crowd management practices, ensuring that all staff understand the
procedures for controlling entry and exit flows and maintaining order
throughout the venue.
• Uniform and Identification:
o Security personnel will wear easily identifiable uniforms and carry identification
badges to ensure they are clearly visible to patrons and staff. This enhances
their authority and helps patrons seek assistance when needed.
b) CCTV Surveillance System
• Coverage Areas:
o A state-of-the-art CCTV system will be installed to cover critical areas including:
Entry and exit points to monitor all patron movements.
Internal areas such as the bar, dining spaces, and hallways to provide
comprehensive oversight of patron behaviour.
Outdoor deck areas and surrounding perimeters to detect any
disturbances outside the premises.
o CCTV cameras will operate continuously from 8:00 pm until closing, with
footage stored securely for a minimum of 28 days, ensuring compliance with the
RAMP and Liquor Act regulations.
• Monitoring and Incident Response:
o A dedicated security room will be set up for live monitoring of CCTV footage
during peak hours. Security staff will be trained to identify and respond promptly
to any incidents observed on the footage, including patron altercations,
suspicious behaviour, and unauthorized access attempts.
