RE: PUBLIC MEETING INVITIATION MAY 19™ 2019
Firstly, thank you for your invitation to attend the above meeting, however both Surf Life
Saving Queensland and the Surf Life Saving Sunshine Coast Branch respectfully decline the
opportunity to attend and/or present at the public meeting to be held on Saturday 19" May
2018.
Surf Life Saving Queensland does however remain committed to no reduction in the provision
of Surf Life Saving services at Peregian Beach for the safety and enjoyment of local residents
and visitors alike. At present, as with other local beaches, this consists of combination of
professional lifeguard services provided in conjunction with Noosa Shire Council and
voluntary services provided by Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC).
Surf Life Saving Queensland and Surf Life Saving Sunshine Coast Branch are grateful to Noosa
SLSC for taking on responsibility for Surf Life Saving Club activities at Peregian Beach along
with the significant financial debts left behind with the wind up of the Peregian Beach SLSC.
We continue to fully support the endeavours of Noosa Head SLSC to grow and further
develop Surf Life Saving activities based out of the Peregian Beach site and we commend
them for their efforts to engage the Peregian community in their decision making.
Noosa SLSC remains the only entity with qualified personnel and affiliated with Surf Life
Saving Queensland and Surf Life Saving Sunshine Coast Branch. We would therefore like to
remind all parties engaged in the discussion around the Peregian Beach Lifesaving of their
obligations to respect all Surf Lifesaving intellectual property including the use imagery of the
patrol uniform, red and yellow flags and the term “Nippers.” Only entities directly afflated
with Surf Life Saving Sunshine Coast and Queensland are entitled to utilise Surf Life Saving
intellectual property.
