5.4 Surface Drainage
Surface drainage at the knoll and on the flanks of the knoll is considered to be good, with runoff generally
being directed downslope to the natural drainage lines (gullies) towards the north and south. The northern
gully drains into existing dams near the residence.
The ground at the base of the southern gully (near Moran Group Road) was noted to be wet at the time of
the investigation, although surface water was not noted to be flowing.
5.5 Vegetation
The area surrounding the proposed development contained some mature trees up to approximately 15 m
height. Most smaller trees and shrubs appeared to have been cleared to facilitate historical grazing in the
area although some steep sided gullies and other isolated areas contained more dense undergrowth.
At the time of our investigation, no significant signs of tilting were observed in the existing vegetation, which
can be an indicator of ground movement.
5.6 Buildings, Other Structures, etc.
No structures were located in the area of the proposed cabins. An existing residence and sheds were
located to the northwest of the cabins site, at the foot of the knoll.
6.0 ASSESSMENT OF LAND STABILITY
6.1 Existing Conditions
The NC Landslide Hazard (susceptibility) mapping indicates that the site for the proposed development is of
mostly Moderate Landslide Hazard (ref. Image 5).

Image 5: Landslide Hazard Risk Mapping
The NC Landslide Hazard Map is a broad-scale indication of potential landslide likelihood. The landslide
ratings can be superseded once site specific investigation and analysis are undertaken (i.e. this report).
