PLANNING & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 14 OCTOBER 2014

organisations in the EDV local area and SC organisations

Noosa Council have been requested to provide statistics as to the extent of use
of Noosa services such as the Library by residents of EDV and these are being
            compiled at present.
            Information
In 2006, the data showed that EDV residents obtained most of their information
about what is happening locally from Noosa based media. Very little has
changed in the interim other than a newly formed local magazine, Eumundi
Green (now called the Green) has captured the largest share of the market.

The three main sources of information about local events and activities are the
Eumundi Green (89%), Noosa News (73%) and Noosa Today (61%). The
Nambour Chronicle and the Sunshine Valley Gazette (“connecting Hinterland
communities”) are not circulated in the EDV area and attract very little online
            interest.

            Service Areas
The close alignment with Noosa Shire means that the majority of EDV residents
regularly use Noosa based services as the distances to access these services are
very short compared to accessing services that are much further away in the
            SCC.

            Effective representation
There are a total of 3,464 electors on the electoral roll for the EDV area
(compared to 189,294 in SSC and 36,121 in Noosa), which represents 1.8% of
the number of electors in the SCC
area. If the area becomes part of % of all votes 2012 - Div 10 - Cr Rogerson
Noosa Shire then the electors would Kenilworth [I
