INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 3 MARCH 2015

6 | Review of the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre Report sinner

        Overall community feedback and values

The following section summarises the key themes of community feedback identified as a result
of the consultations undertaken by council in the community workshop, meetings and the
online discussion forum and written proposals from the community. Further detailed verbatim
community comments are available from council.
The community responded with a keen interest to participate in the consultations (more than
200 individuals and groups participated in the consultations) and the opportunity to propose
options for Council’s consideration. Most importantly, the community acknowledged and
responded positively to Council’s initiative to review the CBFAC governance, activities, and
programs and to provide an opportunity to contribute to possible opportunities.
As a result of the CBFAC consultation process, a reliable list of values priorities and drivers for
the Butter Factory was developed, as well as an outline of the basic principles the community
would like to see adopted by Council and the CBFAC with regard to the CBFAC’s:
Role and function, preferred governance and support, range of users, usage and
accessibility, and opportunities that may need to be addressed in future planning and
               development.

Community and Council's Values for the Butter Factory
Synthesising community and Council input, the core draft values for the CBFAC can be
        summarised as:
¢ acommunity run and driven facility
e part of Cooroy’s history, heritage and community
e alignment with and connected to Cooroy and Noosa community
e having a significant arts and cultural focus and orientation
e contemporary relevance (identified by Council)
           e viable (identified by Council)
¢ supported by communities of interest to the Butter Factory (identified by Council).

Additional aspirational values for the CBFAC included:
e Creative Hub strongly aimed at sustainable/viable employment
e Contemporary Arts - emerging, cutting edge.
