ORDINARY MEETING AGENDA 16 JUNE 2022

We ask the proposed car parking is amended to allow a maximum of 134 carparking spaces as
provided for in the Development Application and supported by our traffic engineer.

Officer response

The Noosa Plan 2020 seeks to reduce the reliance on private motor vehicles and support a public
transport strategy by imposing a maximum limit on the number of car parking spaces that
developments provide in centre zones. The recommended condition is therefore consistent with this
intent and the provision of additional car parking above the 125 originally conditioned is not
warranted for this site given the pedestrian linkages around the site, existing public transport routes
and planned future transit hub within proximity of the subject site. Whilst the applicant may have
already taken the project to market with sales including the additional bays this is not relevant to
Council’s assessment, as the Planning Act 2016 specifically excludes a person’s personal
circumstances, financial or otherwise from the assessment of development applications.
