GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 16 NOVEMBER 2015
Previous Council Consideration
Ordinary Meeting, 22 October 2015, Item 6, Page 7
That Council note the report by the Principal Environment Officer to the Planning & Organisation
Committee Meeting dated 13 October 2015 and:
A. Commence public consultation on the Wallace Park Draft Flying Fox Management Plan;
and
B. Provide a further report to Council on the results of public consultation and recommended
flying fox management actions.
Finance & Risk
Funds will be required to be sourced at the next budget review should Council elect to proceed
with the flying fox management actions surrounding buffer creation and signage. An allocation of
$23,500 is required for the works. The budget review process will be used to find funding for the
works where practicable (i.e. savings within the branch and across the department if required).
If flying foxes are present at the actual work site at the time, costs can substantially increase. For
example, National Referral Guidelines only allow for 2.5hrs of disturbance in a 12 hour period,
preferably at or before sunrise or at sunset, and works must be supervised by a flying fox expert.
