ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN
Hastings Street attracts people who are interested in visiting a café, restaurant and getting take away
food or drink, and people shopping or browsing for discretionary items such as fashion. These activities
are undertaken by 40% or more of customers. It is a leisure shopping destination rather than a centre for
mission shopping. Going to the beach and exercising in the area brings a significant number of people
into the Hastings Street retail areas, as does sightseeing (refer Chart 4.14).
