10. MULCH
10.1.1 INTERPRETATION
Mulch is to be free of deleterious and extraneous matter such as soil, weeds and sections of timber. Use
organic mulches, which are free of stones. All organic mulches shall be composted prior to delivery and
spreading on-site.
10.1.2 APPLICATION
Spread mulches evenly to 100mm depth or as otherwise noted on the Drawings. Finish 25mm below
surrounding finished levels or as detailed. Grade the finished surface evenly between design surface levels.
Place mulch clear of plant stems, and rake to an even surface flush with the surrounding finished levels.
Spread and roll mulch so that after settling, or after rolling, it is smooth and evenly graded between design
surface levels sloped towards the base of plant stems in plantation beds, and not closer to the stem. Mulch
all trees located within grass areas with a 1500mm dia mulch ring to base of tree. Ensure trunk is clear of
mulch.
10.1.3 MULCH TYPE
Organic mulch – Composted Medium Forest Blend Mulch containing a blend of leaf, small sticks
and bark matter. Tub ground mulch, tip mulch or uncomposted mulch will not be accepted. Mulch
is to be certified as weed free by supplier. Certification & sample to be provided prior to installation.
