One thousand and ninety-nine (1,099) respondents provided us with their six most dominant
themes to define success for Noosa highlighted above.
What's important to our young people.
Noosa’s youth seek the safeguarding of Noosa’s quiet, safe, and community-focused character,
and avoiding overdevelopment.
Improving public transport was a strong theme, with calls for more frequent buses, free or
subsidised travel, parking for local workers, and better transport planning to connect the Shire.
Environmental protection was also a priority, keeping Noosa clean, conserving natural areas,
limiting development, and supporting biodiversity.
Affordability remains a major concern with many of our young people hoping to stay in or return
to Noosa but worried about being priced out.
Our young people also encouraged investment in education, skills, lifelong learning, youth
recreation, and stronger support for local businesses.
What was missing?
While we had significant support for every action in the draft plan however there was a call for
more focus on the following:
1. Day visitation.
2. A regenerative approach to agriculture and experiences in the hinterland.
3. Genuine and transparent accountability from Noosa Council.
4. Programs that help build an understanding of and commitment to Noosa’s regenerative
values and approach.
These issues have subsequently been built into our Noosa Destination Management Plan –
please see Draft DMP Implementation Plan, attached separately for further detail.
