Noosa Car Parking Study 2017 - 2032
Final Report
The applicability of parking demand management recommendations for each centre are discussed in more detail
in following sections, with the estimated impact of parking demand reductions on projected parking
requirements shown in Table 5-5.

The implementation of suggested demand management measures by 2031 is projected to result in only a slight
remaining shortfall in parking provisions for Sunshine Beach, under a 100% utilisation rate target. Where the
ideal 85% utilisation rate is considered, parking capacity is still considered to be unable to meet projected
parking demand in Peregian Beach as well.
5.4.1 Cooran
On-street parking demand is not expected to exceed existing parking supply up to 2031. Therefore, no parking
demand management or additional parking infrastructure interventions are required.
5.4.2 Cooroy
On-street parking demand in Cooroy is not expected to exceed the target utilisation rate or existing parking
supply up to 2031. Therefore, no parking demand management or additional parking infrastructure
interventions are recommended. It is noted, however, that weekend markets provide sharp temporal peaks in
parking demand, such that some intervention may be required – i.e. appropriate parking management measures
by the operators of the markets.
5.4.3 Hastings Street
Carparking within the Hastings Street centre is currently 93% overall. Hastings Street’s current parking supply is
expected to be fully utilised by 2021, with 66-147 additional carparks required by 2031 (to achieve utilisation
rate criteria of 85% - 100%), without demand management intervention. Due to the high level of current and
future parking demand, the implementation of priced parking is considered to be an appropriate demand
management option.
