Noosa Car Parking Study 2017 - 2032
Final Report
Figure 5-8: Peregian Beach Parking Demand Management Intervention
The implementation of directional signage and adjustments in parking time-limits may result in a decrease in
parking demand of between 5% and 10%, which is sufficient to enable everyday parking demand to be met by
existing parking supply at a desired 85%, based on projected parking demand.
Peregian Beach also experiences temporal demand for beach parking, however data is not available on observed
parking behaviour during peak beach parking periods. As a general principle, therefore, it is recommended that
seasonal time-limits be implemented to manage parking demand. The provision of a spillover parking area, and
accompanying directional signage, could be implemented to manage excess demand as well. A potential
location could be adjacent to the tennis court off Rufous Street, although it is acknowledged that pedestrian
access through to and across David Low Way would need to be improved.
5.4.7 Pomona
Carparking demand within the Peregian Beach centre is currently 52% overall. On-street parking demand is not
expected to exceed the target utilisation rate or existing parking supply up to the 2031 horizon year. Therefore,
no parking demand management or additional parking infrastructure interventions are recommended.
5.4.8 Sunshine Beach
Sunshine Beach’s current parking supply is expected to be fully utilised by 2030, with 1-11 additional carparks
required by 2031 to achieve a utilisation rate of 85% - 100%. Due to the minimal projected number of additional
carparks required, no parking demand management measures are recommended.
Sunshine Beach likely also experiences seasonal demand for beach parking, however data is not available on
observed parking behaviour during peak beach parking demand periods. In line with the general principles
regarding beach parking noted previously, it is recommended that seasonal time-limits be implemented to
manage parking demand.
